Changing futures for Washington, DC students
Northstar Tutoring was founded on the belief that every student deserves consistent, caring support to reach their full potential. Since our launch in 2017, we’ve been providing students with dedicated volunteer tutors who serve not just as academic guides, but as trusted mentors.
What started as a small, community-based effort has grown into a multi-site program that supports hundreds of students across the D.C. metro area each year.
Our Mission
Northstar empowers K–12 students through personalized, one-on-one tutoring and long-term mentoring relationships. We partner with schools, community centers, and families to create a supportive network that helps students thrive in the classroom and beyond. Our work is grounded in the belief that when young people are seen, supported, and believed in, they rise.
